Description: Fabulous Heywood Bros & Co. (original red label under seat -
see photo) Victorian wicker photographers bench. It is exuberantly
decorated with numerous curlicues, bird cages, stick and ball, and star caned
back. It has the original brass caps on the feet. This piece is shown on
page 58 of "Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company Classic Wicker Furniture"
by Richard Saunders. If you look through old photographs from the late
1800's you will see your relatives sitting in benches like or similar to
this one. They were used by photographers to frame the subjects. This one
is in pretty good original condition with only a few minor problems. A couple of curlicues have the attaching wraps missing or replaced and there is a slight loss in the bird cage design. A great decorative and collectable piece of
Victorian wicker!
