Description: Stunning Renaissance Revival walnut Victorian two part hall mirror made by Henry J. Nelson, Burlington, VT. The marble and top of base are signed. This piece has a large original mirror with protruding open carved top crest. The arched top features etched carvings of twigs with leaves. There are applied carvings on the top and bottom of the sides with etched carvings in the middle of the sides and base. A drip stain is on the bottom left side of the mirror frame. The serpentine front base has serpentine legs and lovely open carved skirt with a bold fruit carving in the middle. Original gorgeous gilt decoration highlights the various moldings and fills the incised carvings. The gilt provides a rich contrast with the warm original patina of the walnut.
